Where the magic continues once Efteling theme park has closed for the night
Efteling Bosrijk is situated among matured woodland and surrounds a lake. In the middle of this lake you will find the magical home of The Sandman which is beautifully lit up in the evenings with subtle colourful lighting. Step a little further towards the arches under the main Poorthuys building and there you will find the location for bedtime stories which are told by The Sandman and other Efteling fairytale characters most evenings. Just when you thought your little ones had experienced all the excitment that there is to offer, watching them wide-eyed and captivated by the fairytale characters coming to life is a memory to be treasured; all this with a backdrop of the sun setting on the lake.
Getting to Efteling theme park is easy from Bosrijk. On most days it is possible to take the mini train shuttle there and back. Alternatively, you can choose to take a short walk of just under 10 minutes along a winding woodland path. This is a wonderful way to explore the nature that this theme park and holiday park is set in. Look closely and you will spot the magnificant red and white toad stools that are all so familiar in fairytales, lining the edge of the path. As a guest of Efteling accommodation you have exclusive entrance to the theme park 30 minutes before the general public, where a selection of rides will be ready and waiting for you to enjoy. Staying at Bosrijk includes entrance to Efteling theme park on all days of your stay including arrival and departure days.
On the park you will find a little store with shopping essentials or snacks to take with you on your day out. There is also a restaurant where you may just get a surprise when one of your favourite Efteling fairytale characters turns up to say hello. There is a convenient children’s activity corner located next to the restaurant too. When the sun shines there is no better place to sit and soak up the sunshine than on the restaurant/bar terrace. This overlooks the lake and has a lovely little water play area next to it for children to explore. Of course you may opt to cook in your own accommodation, however, you can enjoy the comforts of your fabulous accommodation and also have a pizza delivered right to your door. Relaxing from all your adventures couldn’t be easier.
If you decide to take a break from the thrills of Efteling theme park then there is plenty to do on site, explore the nature and woodland that the park is set in, build a hut, visit one of the play areas or perhaps catch up on a bit of Efteling TV. Or maybe you fancy a nice relaxing swim in the Badhuys which includes a pool, small whirlpool and a toddler pool area too.
Being able to continue to follow your baby or toddler’s routines couldn’t be easier when combining a visit to Efteling theme park with a stay at Bosrijk. As you will soon discover, its close proximity allows you to enjoy the the delights of the theme park to the full while being able to pop back to your accommodation for a nap or mealtime if you so wish.
What we love are the little details that make Efteling Bosrijk such a magical experience for children: from child size furniture and coat hooks in your accommodation right down to a bedtime story for you to find and keep along with sleeping caps for each child from The Sandman.
Having already participated in the wonders of Efteling theme park on your day out, making the decision to stay overnight or for an extended stay at Efteling Bosrijk is a guaranteed way to extend the wonders and magic of the theme park itself.
Accommodation is set in three beautiful environments. You can choose between the village square, being lakeside or within the woodlands. All are equally enticing and provide fantastic quality accommodation.
On the village square you will find perfect holiday houses set in a traditional style providing an authentic ambience. There are homes set in the matured woodland and you can also stay in holiday homes which are sympathetically set on the lake overlooking the beauty of this park. There are 3, 4 and 6 bedrooms available. Each home has a well equipped kitchen including dishwasher, dining and seating areas, modern bathroom, TV’s, wifi and their own terrace. Some houses also include a jacuzzi and sauna.
It is also possible to stay in the Poorthuys and Landhuys buildings. Here you can book spacious family rooms (*these were sold as apartments in 2019). The Poorthuys also houses the main reception, restaurant and swimming pool whereas the Landhuys building is just a short walk away within the woodland. The family rooms have one separate bedroom and one sleeping area sectioned off from the living area. Each has a modern bathroom and lounge area as well as a microwave and fridge in the kitchen area (there are no cooking facilities). There is also a large communal lounge that is located on the ground floor for all residents. The family rooms include breakfast.
You can also book group accommodation for up to 12 people.
Whatever the size of your party there is accommodation to suit everyone’s needs and requirements. On arrival at your chosen accommodation you will find a welcome pack in your self-catering kitchen meaning you can get the kettle on straight away.
The Efteling Bosrijk village is just a few minutes walk from the park. The village itself has a charming atmosphere, a lake with a nice little castle in the middle (that belongs to “Mr Sandman”) that lights up at night, a playground, a swimming pool, a little grocery store, restaurant and free parking. I recommend downloading the Mr Sandman quest app for the kids which is specific for the Bosrijk village – you walk around the village looking for “magic sand” via a clever GPS system and solve little activities on the way.Udi S
All accommodation includes a high chair and cot. In the holiday homes electrical sockets also have safety covers.
Features such as children’s furniture and lowered cloakroom pegs are also included.
With so much to do at Efteling theme park and its holiday parks you may never venture too far. However if you do choose to do some sight seeing then here are a few suggestions for other attractions that you may like to visit.
Visit the local town of Kaatsheuvel which is a 7 minutes drive (3.1km).
Just an hour away by public transport or 20 minutes drive by car and you will arrive at Beekse Bergen Safari Park. Here you can choose to explore the wild and wonderful animals with your own car, on foot, boat or by taking one of the scheduled bus trips. This wonderful safari park won’t fail to fill your toddlers with fabulous memories as they spot the wild animals en route. It’s even free for children up to 3 years old.
A 20 minutes drive will bring you to the centre of Tilburg, a lovely vibrant city. Head to the famous Heuvelstraat if it’s shopping you fancy. If you’d rather have a leisurely bite to eat or soak up the atmosphere whilst watching the world go by, then the bars and restaurants in this city won’t disappoint.
