Located only 6km from one of the finest, sandy beaches in Holland, and lively beach resort of Katwijk, and just a half an hour drive from both Amsterdam and The Hague, Koningshof holiday park enjoys a fantastic location for seeing a lot of South Holland in a short space of time! It is also only 2km from the small town of Rijnsburg with its shops and supermarkets and 15km from the famous tulip fields of Lisse where the world famous Keukenhof takes place every Spring. You could do what the Dutch do and hire bikes and cycle there along one of the many cycle paths in this area.

What we love about Koningshof is its authentic, real Dutch feel. It is a popular park with English families but somehow you feel like a local staying on here! From its cosy restaurant and bar to its friendly and personable staff you immediately feel very welcome.

It is a fairly small holiday park and all of the facilities are within an easy stroll. The park has a covered pool which is fantastic for young children as they can enjoy splashing about in the warm water of the toddler pool, having fun on the little slides and playing on the animal toys. There is also a heated outdoor pool with slide and a paddling pool open from mid May to mid September. Little ones will love playing in the recently added outdoor spray park with its jets and squirts of water!

Koningshof has two great play areas, one next to the pool and towards the back of the park with lots of space to run around! Children’s activities run all season, from crafts to games to dancing! There really is a lot going on for children of all ages at this holiday park.

The park has a well stocked supermarket and is only a short drive from a larger supermarket in Rijnsburg. It is easy to self cater here, whether by cooking in your holiday home or enjoying an al fresco barbecue as the summer sun sets on one of most lovely areas of Holland. You might fancy a meal or a snack at the snack bar or the cosy restaurant where children are welcome and children’s meals even come in little fun boxes!

This is a holiday park we know well and it has a special charm we think you will love. You may fancy combining a stay here with one at lively Duinrell just a 15 minute drive south in Wassenaar and have the best of both worlds!

Accommodation

Eurocamp offers 3 bedroom Premium Holiday Homes. These sleep up to 8 persons. They are modern and comfortable with an open plan living area and have a partially covered outdoor terrace.

The Holiday Homes are all located on grassy pitches and parking is in designated spaces a short walk from the accommodation, making it super safe for little ones.

“Perfect family stay”

We’ve just returned from a week here with Eurocamp with our three children aged six and under. It’s a fantastic family site, well equipped with everything we needed. Opening hours can be slightly limiting but once you’re aware of them you can work around them. The kids loved the pool and park and the snack bar and supermarket met our needs well. Our accommodation was neat and tidy and great for a family. Our children loved that some friendly ducks visited us everyday.

It’s a small site but conveniently located for the coast and visits to cities like Amsterdam (we drove to Voorhoot and got the train in), Leiden, The Hague and Haarlem. We often joked that everywhere we wanted to go was within 20 minutes drive, it’s a fabulous location.

To Do

You can visit so many places from Koningshof! Amsterdam is less than an hours drive away or you may want to get the train from Voorhout just 4km away. Amsterdam has so much to offer, not least its wonderful parks with its many play areas, its many museums and of course its Artis Zoo. However, you may just enjoy strolling through the city at your own pace, stopping at one of the many bar terraces which line the canals and enjoying a taste of Dutch life, perhaps in the form of a pancake or a Stroopwafel!

Leiden is another beautiful historic city and a university city with a great vibe. Leiden is only 8km from Koningshof and is certainly worth a visit while you are in the area.

If you are visiting between mid April and mid May you absolutely must visit the Keukenhof tulip fields and experience the explosions of colour as the flowers all come into bloom.

You are really close to the beach here too! Katwijk and beach promenade are only 6km away and Scheveningen, The Hague’s popular beach resort, is only 20km away. 2018 marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of Scheveningen and there are lots of celebrations and events taking place along the beach front!
