Holiday Parks Near Towns or Villages

Holiday parks are a brilliant holiday choice for families as not only is it great to be in woodlands or close to the beach but you pretty much have everything you need on site with pools, play areas, shops and places to eat. It is an extra bonus when you can easily walk into a village or town, or jump on a bus directly from the park. Sometimes it’s nice to leave the car behind and not think about driving for a bit.

We’ve had quite a few enquiries recently from families asking where we can recommend with a village or town which is walkable from the park. So we’ve done a little round up below which we hope you find useful! These 15 parks range from about 5 to 30 minutes walk from a town or village.

Holiday Parks Walkable to a Town or Village

Duinrell Not only is Duinrell easily accessible from both the port (45 mins drive) and the airport (30 mins drive) but from Duinrell you can walk into the local town of Wassenaar. It’s literally over the road, a 5 minute walk. This is a very pretty Dutch town with a church and cobbled streets and also a great selection of places to eat, an amazing ice cream shop and supermarkets. You don’t need a car here.

Landal Volendam. Stay in traditional Dutch houses on the shores of the Markermeer lake. Landal Volendam is just a 10 minute walk from the traditional fishing village of Volendam where there are restaurants, shops, a swimming pool and Dutch traditions galore!

Roompot Hof Domburg is in the southern Zeeland region of Holland and on a stunning stretch of coast. It is just a 10-15 minute walk to the beach and seaside resort of Domburg. This is one of the oldest seaside resorts in the country and has a lot of character.

Landal Hoog Vaals. Located in the hilly part of the Netherlands and just 10 minutes drive from the Drielandenpunt where 3 countries meet, Hoog Vaals is an action packed park with a 50m long waterslide, indoor pool, indoor and outdoor play and sports area. The town of Vaals is a 10-15 minute walk away.

Landal Stroombroek. This holiday park is just a 30 minute drive from the Hoge Veluwe National Park. It’s also just a 15 minute walk to the pretty village of Braamt. Stroombroek has a lake beach, a renovated play area, an indoor play area, bowling, a lovely pool and also a wellness centre!

Landal Amerongse Berg. This small-scale park is located in the Heuvelrug National Park just 30 mins from the centre of Utrecht with its Miffy Museum and Train Museum. The train station at Veenendaal-West is a 15 minute walk from the park. Enjoy woodland walks or relax in the modern houses dotted about the park.

Beach Resort Julianahoeve. A holiday park by the beach and just a 15 minute walk into the local town of Renesse. Discover an indoor pool, outdoor spray park with fountains, jets and a tipping bucket and indoor and outdoor play areas.

Landal Orveltermarke This is a small park with an indoor pool, outdoor natural swimming pool, new indoor play area and with several attraction parks and zoos within a 30 minute drive. The museum village of Orvelte is a 20 minute walk away.

Sunparks Oostduinkerke  on the Belgian coast is within a 20 minute walk of the local seaside town and the beach. They are also within walking distance of the tram stop where you can travel along the whole coast (the longest tram line in the world!). The tram also goes to Plopsaland theme park.

Roompot Zandvoort. This is a new park right next to the beach and the Formula 1 racetrack! With modern accommodation, play areas and the town of Zandvoort just a 25 minute walk away along the beachfront, this combines beach and city in one holiday. From the train station in Zandvoort, Haarlem and Amsterdam are just 10 minutes and 30 minutes away respectively.

Koningshof This family run park is just 25 minutes drive from Amsterdam airport, 6km from the beach at Katwijk (an easy bike ride) and close to the tulip fields. The local town of Rijnsburg is a 25 minute walk away. This is a lovely park for young children with an indoor and outdoor pool, play areas and a new waterslide!

Landal Beach Resort Ooghduyne Located an hour north of Amsterdam and close to the world heritage Wadden Islands, this park is 1km from this beautiful beach and a 25 minute walk from the village of Julianadorp aan Zee with its shops and restaurants. Visit in April to enjoy the tulip fields by the park.

Landal Kaatsheuvel. A relatively new park with modern, spacious holiday houses, this is an ideal base for visiting Efteling and exploring the Loonse en Drunense inland sand dunes just a short walk away. There is a small indoor pool and play area on the park and several restaurants can be found in Kaatsheuvel town, about a 30 minute walk away. Europarcs Kaatsheuvel and the Efteling resorts are also all within walking distance of Kaatsheuvel town.

Twee Bruggen.  This is a beautiful park close to the German border and in a very authentic area with grazing cows, windmills and cheese shops nearby. You can enjoy indoor and outdoor pools, waterslides and a full activity programme. The medieval town of Bredevoort is a 30 minute walk away.

Landal Sluftervallei. Located on Texel, the largest of the world heritage Wadden islands, Landal Sluftervallei is a 15 minute walk to the beach and a 30 minute walk into the resort of de Cocksdorp. On the park itself you can enjoy an indoor pool, a play area and children’s activites all year round.
