A fun, family resort on Belgium's sandy coast
Part of the Center Parcs Europe chain of holiday parks, Sunparks Oostduinkerke aan Zee enjoys a prime position on the western part of Belgium’s sandy coastline, just a short drive from the French ferry ports and the famous Plopsaland toddler friendly theme park by De Panne.
This is a fairly large holiday park which is centred around a small lake which is nice to stroll around and stop off at the little play areas dotted about. Just 15 – 20 minutes walk (1.5km) to the wide, sandy beach, the seafront promenade with its places to eat and drink and the coastal tram stops, you are ideally positioned to enjoy the best of what the Belgian coast has to offer. The different resorts on the Belgian coast are all linked together by the coastal tram and so you can visit almost everywhere without needing a car. Stroll into Nieuwpoort beach resort and try out fishing on the long fishing pier while watching the boats come in or sample some of the European markets which set up shop during the summer.
Back on the holiday park your little ones will be able to splash away to their hearts’ content in the large subtropical indoor pool with baby and toddler pool and little slides and fountains. There is plenty of seating space around the pool as well as a pool side snack bar so there is no need to leave for lunch if you’re having too much fun! lots of space to sit by the pool side. The main pool is gently shelving so young children will enjoy splashing at the shore line and letting the waves tickle their feet. There is also a small outdoor pool area if you fancy a change of scene as well as a separate wellness centre where you can enjoy a pamper or two! There is a buggy parking area by the pool too which is handy if you’re walking from the other side of the park.
As well as having a large indoor pool area the holiday park also has a fantastic 500m2 indoor play area which has a separate area for under 4s and seating where parents can have a drink and keep an eye on their little ones at play! The park also organises children’s entertainment and mini discos.
Outdoors there is a main central play area as well as several small play areas dotted about the park. It is a car free zone which means added safety with little ones running around.
There is a good selection of places to eat in the central dome area as well as in the local resort. Or take advantage of the well-stocked shop and enjoy a BBQ! Half board options are also available in the park restaurants.
This is a region made for cycling with a fantastic cycle network. Make the most of it by renting bikes from the park and get out exploring!
Sunparks offer a selection of 2 and 3 bedroom holiday cottages. They offer a standard model (the holiday house select) and a higher end model (holiday house exclusive). The higher end one has more modern décor as well as flat screen tv and a sauna. Linen and towels can be rented for the standard model but come included for the exclusive model.
Both models have well equipped kitchens and comfortable seating areas both inside and outside.
The standard model also has some larger units available with 4 and 6 bedrooms for larger families or families travelling together.
Parking is away from accommodation in order to ensure a safe and quiet environment on the park. Cars can be driven to the holiday cottages for unloading and reloading.
“Excellent value for money”
Have been visiting this place on and off for over 25 years. Great value for money and a hit with families. Even-though our oldest is 30 now, we still use it as a family get together holiday. We love the closeness to Calais – live near Worthing and can get there quicker than the midlands! Definitely recommend. Pool fab, nice site. Gorgeous beach and ideal base to visit Bruges and surrounding areas.dianahal
“Excellent value for money”
We would highly recommend Sunparks Oostduinkerke. Firstly the journey from England was so easy and stress-free, as the park is only a short and very direct journey from the Eurotunnel. We went in May half term, but the park was so quiet as Belgium school holidays must be different to ours, and so sometimes we had the pool to ourselves! Some of the eating facilities were limited as early season, but these improved as the week went on, and we were very impressed with the standard and cost of the meals.Julia F
Both models are child friendly and cots and high chairs are included as standard.
Stair gates are available for all accommodations. Most units have them but if not then Sunparks Oostduinkerke have spare ones which can be borrowed. No extra charge applies.
The great thing about Sunparks is that there is always a lot to do on the holiday park and lots to do on your door step (and a short distance away too).
A stroll or short drive into the nearby beach resorts of Oostduinkerke (2.5km away) and Nieuwpoort (3km away).
Explore the coast on the coastal tram!
You are only 13km from Plopsaland de Panne and Plopsaqua; the toddler friendly theme park and water park based on the famous Belgian Plopsa characters- the easiest way to get there is on the tram which takes you directly to the Plopsaland entrance.
Ostende with its world famous sand sculpting festival (July and August) is 25km away
