No stay here would be complete without discovering Henschotermeer lake which is just a 10 minute walk from the holiday park. This is an enormous recreational lake set amidst the forest and has wonderful sandy beaches to play and relax. There is no better place to be when the sun is shining than messing about on the banks of the lake or paddling/floating on the water, a truly stunning location!

But that‘s not all, the park itself offers a range of activities to keep everyone entertained. There’s a new indoor pool with waterslide and toddler area for the younger members of your family. Next to the pool is a lawn area perfect for those who like to enjoy the playground equipment, knock about a ball, have a game of football, or a spot of basketball or badminton. Whatever the game you choose this holiday, it’s a great place to hang out with family and make new friends.

If you’re looking for organised activities for your children, then the Fun Crew and Fun Heroes provide organised activities and special entertainment/shows during the main holiday periods. This includes activities from sports, crafts and a mini disco, to laser games and bubble soccer.

There is a good selection of accommodation types to choose from. These range from glamping tents and tiny houses, to larger homes for up to 6 people. Each is unique in its own way, offers all the mod-cons you need, is surrounded by nature and most feature large wall to ceiling windows which let all the natural light flood in.

In just over 20 minutes you can find yourself in the wonderful vibrant city of Utrecht with magnificent family friendly museums such as the Miffy and train museums, beautiful canals and terraces lining the water. The handy thing about EuroParcs De Utrechtse Heuvelrug is its connection to public transport, with the closest train station (Maarn) just a 25 minute walk away and several bus routes connect the park to the local area and attractions.

With so much to see and do we’d forgive you for not having your dinner plans in place, so why not take advantage of the snack bar, restaurant or BBQ service! You can even order your breakfast or bread for the day, which can be collected from the reception in the morning. Of course, if you fancy cooking yourself then a stop by the on-site grocery store will have you sorted.

Accommodation

A wide choice of accommodation is available all of which are on one floor apart from the Tiny houses which have bedrooms in the loft area. The houses can accommodate up to 6 people and have either 2 or 3 bedrooms. From glamping tents and cool tiny houses, to larger houses, some of which have a hot tub! Each type is detached with its own outdoor space and seating area and there are some accommodation types that allow dogs.

You will find everything you need in your holiday home including a well equipped kitchen with dishwasher and bathroom with shower.

“Tiny House with WOW Factor”

The location is really a 10/10 for nature lovers. You step right into the forest for a walk, or grab your mountain bike for a brisk ride through the hills. The Henschotermeer is practically in your backyard – perfect for hot days. Value for money? More than value for money. This is one of those places where you leave with a big smile and already know you’re coming back.

Children can go all out here. The park is known for its child-friendliness.

To Do

Play-in Utrecht is just half an half hour drive from EuroParcs de Utrechtse Heuvelrug and is great for an active adventure or rainy day activities. There is plenty to choose from, including glow golf, an indoor play area, trampoline park and a virtual reality experience. Of course, there’s a cafe area too.

Ouwerhands Zoo 30km or 30 minutes away, specialises in endangered species and has dedicated areas for pandas, bears and gorillas. It is also home to Europe’s largest indoor jungle playground, RavotAapia. This is huge at 4000m2 and has separate areas for younger and older children.

Dierenpark Amersfoort. This zoo, around 15 mins drive away calls itself “the most playful zoo in the Netherlands”. Home to 150 different species and 4 interactive play areas this is somewhere where you can easily spend a whole day. There is even a Dinosaur Park within the zoo where you and meet all the different dinosaurs in the woods!

The lively, historic city of Utrecht is just 25 minutes away. Utrecht is a beautiful city to visit for its canals and child friendly restaurants with waterside terraces. Utrecht is also the birthplace of Dick Bruna, the creator of Miffy. One of the main attractions of Utrecht for families with young children is the interactive Miffy or Nijntje Museum which is a fun day out in itself. Train loving children will also love the Train or Spoorweg Museum.

Approx 35 minutes drive away is the Hoge Veluwe National Park, another area of outstanding natural beauty with plenty of attractions of its own to visit such as the Apenheul monkey zoo and the Juliana Toren attraction park.

Just 20 minutes away is the historic city of Amersfoort. You can enjoy a walk or take a boat trip through the canals of the medieval centre, or enjoy its picturesque charm whilst shopping your way through the winding streets, surrounded by characteristic Dutch buildings.
