Hoeve den Overdraght

This Feather Down farm in Flanders is only half an hour away from the Belgian Coast with its wide, sandy beaches, child friendly beach resorts and Plopsaland theme park which has so many attractions for younger children. It’s also within an hour’s drive of  Bruges and Gent as well as Calais and Dunkirk ferry ports. A brilliantly located Belgian farm holiday!

Hoeve den Overdraght is steeped in history and has been running since the 1850s. Today it is a well established sheep and dairy farm run by Ann and Filip Louwagie-de Crock and their 3 grown-up children. Friendly and welcoming hosts they love showing families around their farm, teaching them about how it works and making sure they are comfortable in their accommodation.

With views of open fields and meadows and with access to a superb cycle network it’s easy to see why this is such a great place to stay. You have the feeling of being able to slow down and enjoy a more simple life with home cooked food and being close to nature, whilst at the same time you’re only a hop, skip and a jump away from some of the most famous cities in Europe.

This is a fabulous place for children to be free, where they can run around in the fields, play on the swings and on the trampoline, watch the animals being fed and take part in craft work shops.  There is even a farmer’s swimming pool to cool off in on the warm, summer days. Children will love tending to the rabbits and chickens, stroke the kittens and if you’re lucky to be there in lambing season watch the little lambs being fed.

There is a farm shop where you can get most things you need but the little town of Poperinge is only 5km away in case you wanted to visit a supermarket or sample some of the Flemish restaurants or cafes.
