Discover, interact, explore and admire the Netherlands in all its 'miniature' splendour.
Madurodam is a fabulous open-air attraction which has something for young and old. Where else can you explore all of the Netherlands, its famous landmarks, buildings and history in one location! We love how you can meander around the miniature monuments, historical buildings and places of interest that are exact replicas of those that can be found spread far and wide across the Netherlands. At Madurodam, you can get up close to each exhibit and see even the smallest details of these amazing structures.
If you think this means looking and no touching, you couldn’t be more wrong! There is a real focus on exploration here and not only that, but the whole of the park is beautifully laid out with easily accessible attractions set amidst pretty surroundings. Simply stroll around the walk ways, and who knows what you may discover and learn.
You may spot places that you have seen before, or plan to visit during the rest of your holiday such as the Anne Frank house, the tulip fields, Kinderdijk windmills, the cheese markets, or even Efteling. Marvel at the details of these structures in their fine miniature form. Then there are trains, planes, parliament buildings and so much more. But it would be a shame to spoil all the surprises you will discover for yourselves.
Nothing makes a family day out more successful than plenty of things to keep little hands busy. Some of the exciting ‘hands on’ activities you can find include; loading containers without them sinking, putting out fires, weighing cheese, being a train driver and turning sea into land. Through these activities you get to explore Dutch engineering feats, national icons, or traditions that are synonymous with the Netherlands.
Of course every family needs a pit-stop whilst on an adventure and the panoramic restaurant is just the ticket. You can enjoy lunch or a snack whilst taking in the view of the park. Baby changing facilities, toilets and disable facilities can be found within the attraction. Of course little ones will also want to find a place to let off some steam and there is plenty of space to do this, not least at the Miffy themed playground.
It’s hard to believe that just 10 minutes away is Scheveningen promenade and beach. Wouldn’t it be idyllic to soak up all that Madurodam has to offer and then enjoy dinner at one of the many terraces on the beach after your fun day out? Being open all year round it’s worth visiting more than once to share in the summer delights and the magic of winter too.
If you’re looking for a fantastic family day out during your holiday, where you can kick back, relax and take in all the sights at your own pace whilst immersing yourself in all things Dutch, Madurodam won’t disappoint!
