Linnaeushof

About Linnaeushof

The largest playground in Europe

Linnaeushof is a world of endless play opportunities all spread over a large grassy lawn and divided into different areas of exploration by age, or water play. In fact this super playground is the largest of its kind in Europe and is a great family day out. Linnaeushof is located in Heemskerk which is close to Haarlem and easy to reach from Amsterdam and the surrounding areas.

Spend your day exploring the many slides, climbing frames, swings, tunnels and roundabouts, all of which are designed to invite children (and adults) to use their own energy to make them move, and there’s an incredible 350 different play apparatus to explore!

You’ll find all sorts of additional and exciting features at Linnaeushof, such as the large bumpy slide, mini golf, train ride, trampolines, sandpit and cable cars.

For older and more adventurous explorers, they should head to ‘Pirate Island’ which is in the middle of the lake in the centre of Linnaeushof. To reach the island you need to master the rope bridges and slide down a snake to reach the base. For those with a swim diploma you can sail around the island on a paddle boat.

Younger children will love their own dedicated playground which is conveniently fenced off from the rest of the park and has one entrance in and out of the area. The adorable Bennie Broek mascot will be around for cuddles too and puts on a daily show for all to enjoy. At the Traffic Garden children can ride around the track on small bicycles and tricycles. They will discover little playhouses for each of the emergency services and can role play to their heart’s content.

In the summer months (May to Sept) there is a whole area of Linnaeushof that comes to life through water play. So, if the sun is shining, why not pack your swimwear or some spare clothes and take full advantage of the spray park, tipping bucket, pipes and waterways.

You are sure to work up an appetite during your day of fun and there are a number of places to grab a bite to eat, ice cream or a snack. You can also bring your own picnic and choose a nice spot around the playground to have a pitstop. If you buy the Linnaeushof thermos cup at one of the kiosks, you can get unlimited coffee, tea and hot chocolate during your visit.

Should there be a rain shower during your visit, then you can head to the indoor attractions that will keep energetic children busy until the rain passes by and you can head outside for even more fun!

If you’re still looking for more adventure after your day at Linnaeushof you could always head to Zandvoort beach for dinner on the seafront which is just 15 minutes away by car.
