Review: TerSpegelt, 100% Recommend To Other SEN Families

The Barnes family have recently returned from a holiday at TerSpegelt, travelling with their 2 sons, one of whom has autism. They have left us this review:

“Just returned from an amazing week at TerSpegelt in North Brabant, Holland, which we booked last year after reading a review on Little Clogs Holidays website, which was so detailed and helpful.

Research is important to us as our youngest son is autistic (age 10) and we have a 13 year old too who is NT. Little Clogs were also great when it came to choosing accommodation and we booked direct with the park, staying in a chalet, which was just lovely – spacious, stylish and high spec with a huge veranda. Also not packed tightly together, which was important to us. Loved that we could choose the exact one we wanted, so no surprises on arrival – TerSpegelt even sent me a picture of our chalet so we could show our son!

For us, TerSpegelt was the perfect holiday park, as the whole site was so spread out, clean and calm, it never felt busy or chaotic. The lakes were even more beautiful in reality and we spent most of our time on the beaches, which have squishy white sand, perfect for digging and sandcastles. One beach was busier, due to the waterslides, sand play, jumping pillow and proximity to the Beach Pavilion bar and Cafe. We did enjoy this in small doses, but tended to use the other lake beach which was larger with lots of shade around (much needed as it was very warm most days!) and very quiet. The water was warm and shallow and great for our ASC son who isn’t keen on waves in the sea but does love a paddle and play in the sand. Taking an inflatable boat was brilliant and we messed around with this, as were other families who had them and SUP’s, which created a great beach holiday vibe.

There were so many activities on the site that we couldn’t try everything, but our older son enjoyed the zip wire, the inflatable Blob and some of the organised games. We also completed the Maize Maze and heard the mini disco, which sounded fun. We brought our bikes and scooters, which were brilliant for getting around safely and quickly – the onsite bike hire looked very reasonable too. The Beach Pavilion was perfect for evening drinks on the terrace, but we mostly ate on our veranda (onsite shop was fab with a bakery, also a nearby Lidl for a bigger shop) and used the snack bar for takeaway pizza one night (great choice for selective eaters).

We didn’t venture out too much but had a magical day at Efteling, which is again very SEN friendly as it is so well thought out, with lots of shade and easy access to food, water and a million quirky things to look at on your way around. We want to go back! This really was one of our best holidays, due to the relaxed feel and ability to have a proper beach break without being in an overwhelming resort.

We 100% recommend TerSpegelt to other SEN families, using Little Clogs Holidays for advice and booking via their link.”
