Review: Fabulous First Family Holiday With a 3 Year Old!!”

The Scaife family left us this review of their September holiday at Beekse Bergen,  the GuestHouse Hotel Kaatsheuvel and Landal Ouddorp Duin. They had contacted us for ideas of where to go on holiday with their 3 year old girl and settled on this fab combination of safari, beaches and fairytales! They said:

“Absolutely nothing but positive things to say about Little Clogs!! These ladies know their thing and are so helpful.

We first made contact a year or 2 ago to start planning our first holiday as a family.

Laura and Jane dealt with all our enquires swiftly and with lots of alternatives so we could make decisions fitting for our preferences.

1st to 10th September 2023:

We flew from Manchester with car hire waiting for collection at Eindhoven Airport, car seat hire too. We travelled to Beekse Bergen, stayed 2 nights. What a place, spoilt for views of the animals. Well maintained safari, and stayed in a Jungalow (came with child wagon/cart, stored outside under its own open shed area, footstool for toddler toilet and sink access).

We then moved on to Ouddorp, hired bikes the entire time (3/4 nights). The beach was immense with 2 great beach restaurants.

The resort had enough to entertain a 3 year old with swimming, crafts and indoor adventure play when too hot outside.

Next was Efteling, wow, wow, wow! Every child and adult needs to go here!!!!
we stayed at the Guesthouse Kaatsheuvel, 5-10 min walk to Efteling. Hired a hotel cart, Efteling hires children ‘seat slays’, free car park at the hotel and the rooms were well serviced. I won’t say too much about the theme park because you’ve got to see it to believe how incredible it is!!

If anyone is in doubt of where and what to do…don’t wait. We came away planning our next trip for next year.

Meals out were priced well, each resort had Spar stores on site which were well stocked and regular prices.

Ouddorp and the Guesthouse both had laundry facilities for free too,

The roads are easy to navigate and lots of cycle paths if you want to do some decent bike rides from base.

We also spent an afternoon in a town called Heusden which was a beautiful fortified town full of beautiful windmills and history, between Beekse and Ouddorp.

When staying in Ouddorp Landal we went to Zierikzee town, caught a ferry to see the seals off shore on Oosterschelde national park. It was a 3 hour ferry trip. To be booked online beforehand but we were lucky enough to board 5 mins before departing as there was space and paid onboard. This was a highlight and very well priced. There was food and snacks on board paid with cash given no card signal.

From Efteling for our flight back from Eindhoven we stopped at Speelpark de splinter in Eindhoven 10 mins from the airport. €1.50 each and could come and go with a stamp all day if wished. Which was a great fun place with climbing frames, mini farm, outside large games such as chess, dominoes, connect four, small and large play parks for different ages and a splash/pool park with changing cubicles and picnic tables.
