The Kavanagh family have left us this review of their stay at Landal Marina Resort Well in June. This park is a recent addition to our collection and has proven popular for its luxury accommodation, new splash park and infinity pool, and its location just a 17 minute drive from Irrland adventure play park in Germany. This is a great resort for all ages as the Kavanaghs, with their teenage children, discovered. They said:
“I booked this holiday through Little Clogs Holidays who, as always, were amazing. I have used them many times and you really cannot fault them. They know the parks inside out and their advice is always spot on. I love booking with them because they take the stress out of planning and have so much knowledge about what works for different families.
For me, travelling as a single mum with four teenagers who all have additional needs, it was important to find somewhere that had loads to do but also offered quieter spaces for when the kids needed downtime. Landal Marina Resort Well delivered on both fronts.
The lake was the absolute star of the trip. We hired small electric boats for ten euros and the kids were thrilled that they could drive them themselves. You have to watch out when leaving the marina as there are yachts to manoeuvre around and we nearly had a crash on our first attempt, but that just added to the adventure. The kids also hired paddle boards, jumped off the boat into the lake, and even tied the boards to the back of the boat to be pulled along. They thought it was the best fun ever. There are no lifeguards and life jackets are only given out if you ask, so supervision is essential. But with the right care, it is an incredible experience.
The marina at night was a real highlight. It is peaceful and beautiful, the perfect place to ride or walk around once everything is lit up. We hired electric bikes and I would say they are a must for teenagers at this park. The grounds are huge and the resort itself is quite remote, so the bikes gave them independence to explore the lake and surrounding woodland. You do need a car for this resort as it is not close to a town, although it is easy enough to get to the village by bike if you want a change of scenery.
The accommodation was stunning. We had a four bedroom, three bathroom house with a sauna and an outdoor shower area. It had everything we needed and plenty of space for everyone to spread out. The only niggle was the sand. No matter how much I cleaned, the patio and floors never felt properly fresh and really needed a good hose down. Each house has its own driveway and car charger which was incredibly handy. Strangely, we were not charged for using ours and I never worked out if it was included in the booking or just overlooked, but either way it was a bonus.
The houses are definitely the way to go if you want comfort. They are beautifully laid out and spacious. Incredible at night, sitting out on the patio with stunning views. If you go for the bungalows, they are fine but more basic and a bit like Duinrell in terms of spacing, so I would recommend houses if you can. There are some great deals to be had with the houses. Really worth the money.
The splash park and infinity pool were another big hit. Swimming with a view across the marina felt very special, almost like being in a luxury resort. The timings were the only real frustration. The outdoor pool only opens between eleven and six and they are very strict about it. The indoor pool opens earlier at nine but then shuts between three and six before reopening until nine at night. There are no lifeguards at either pool. To get in you have to use facial ID which is a real pain. It locks you out if you take too long to walk through or if you nip out and try to come back in, and once you are locked out it does not reset until the next day. At one point some of the kids were stuck outside the pool while others were still inside which was stressful. With reception closing at six there was not much we could do about it, so everyone got caught out by it at some stage.
Overall Landal Marina Resort Well was a real taste of luxury. The kids had enough adventure to keep them busy, it was great watching the boats all coming and going on the marina. There were also plenty of calm spots for downtime. With a few tweaks to the opening hours, an easier pool entry system, and a bit more attention to outdoor cleaning the patios, it would be almost perfect. And with Little Clogs handling the booking, I felt completely confident that we were in the right place.
