Lodges in beautiful nature on child friendly holiday parks, close to pretty towns and great family days out… This concept is very well covered on our website, and we feature a wide range of holiday parks in the Netherlands and Belgium. Did you know though that there are over 20 Landal parks right here in the UK? These range from smaller more low-key parks, focussed on peace and quiet and nature, to parks more like the Dutch and Belgian ones we know, with indoor pools and activities. Almost all of them have lodges with outdoor hot tubs which is a wonderful way to relax and enjoy the nature and views surrounding the parks. Dogs are also very welcome on these parks, with beautiful walks on the doorstep, dog agility courses on several of the parks, and pet-friendly lodges.
We were curious to find out more and recently enjoyed a mid-week break over Easter at Landal Aysgarth in the Yorkshire Dales. We had such a lovely time, and it was only a couple of hours drive from our home in Altrincham. Spurred on by our stay we thought it might be useful to do a bit of a roundup of the Landal parks which have the most to offer for families in case you were looking for ideas of UK breaks!
This park enjoys a picturesque setting in the Lincolnshire countryside, a 5-minute drive from Louth, 25 minutes from Mablethorpe beach and 45 minutes from Lincoln castle. On-site facilities include an indoor pool, spa and gym, outdoor hydrotherapy pool, bike hire and sports activities such as tennis and archery. The park has 2 restaurants and a bar which overlooks the parkland. The lodges sleep up to 8 and most have an outdoor hot tub.
Landal Piperdam is located directly on the Piperdam Loch, 20 minutes from Dundee and 25 minutes from the seaside town of Broughty Ferry with its beach, independent shops and places to eat.
On-site you can enjoy the indoor pool, sauna, steam room, gym and massage treatments, and there is plenty for children to do too. The indoor play has a separate area for babies and toddlers as well as slides and climbing equipment for older children. The park organises a range of sports and craft activities for all ages. Food-wise you can enjoy a meal at the restaurant overlooking the loch or a drink in the on-site bar.
The spacious lodges sleep up to 12 so are ideal for larger families or friends travelling together. Most of the lodges have outdoor hot tubs. There is also a 10 person children’s lodge with games, a beanbag, games table and a hot tub.
LANDAL PIPERDAM
Landal Woodland Lakes sits between 2 national parks: the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales, and is close to many places to visit, including Light Water Valley theme park, 20 minutes away. The traditional market town of Thirsk is a 10-minute drive away and York is under an hour away.
On-site facilities include an indoor pool and wellness centre, indoor play and an outdoor play area. You can also try your hand at archery and enjoy fun activities such as zorbing and get messy in the slime workshop!
The spacious lodges sleep up to 8 and nearly all have an outdoor hot tub. There are also children’s themed lodges available.
Landal Aysgarth is a small park just a 15-minute walk from the famous Aysgarth Falls and a 20-minute walk to the village of West Burton and the Cauldron Falls. This park has a great play area, a football pitch and mini golf, as well as a dog agility course in a fully fenced field.
The on-site restaurant serves a good selection of meals including pizzas, and the bar also has a separate games room.
All the lodges here have a hot tub and some stunning views of the surrounding Yorkshire Dales.
Landal Angrove is located on the edge of the Yorkshire Moors, 45 minutes from the beach at Saltburn-on-Sea, and 30 minutes from Middlesbrough.
Like Landal Aysgarth, this park is great for dogs, with its dog agility course and lovely local walks, and has a great play area and mini golf for families. The resort restaurant and bar have a good reputation in the local area for its seasonal dishes and cosy atmosphere.
The lodges sleep up to 8 and all have an outdoor hot tub.
Another park with a dog agility course! Landal Ullswater is just 15 minutes from Ullswater and 30 minutes from Derwentwater, close to Penrith in the Lake District. There is plenty to explore in this area, including the popular Aira force waterfalls, 20 minutes away.
The lodges here all have outdoor hot tubs and sleep up to 8. The lodges include some cool grass-roofed pods overlooking the lake. There are also some safari tents available on this park. Landal Ullswater has a beautiful setting with a lakeside restaurant and bar, conveniently located next to the outdoor playground and close to the mini golf course.
There’s plenty of fun to be had here, both on the water and on dry land!
Tucked away in Scotland’s East Lothian countryside Landal Whitekirk is a perfect location for enjoying beautiful nature, beaches and historic cities. It is just 5 minutes’ drive from the sandy beach at Seacliff and 45 minutes from historic Edinburgh. On-site, facilities include an indoor pool, spa and gym.
Children will love exploring the indoor play barn and the outdoor play area with its sand pit and diggers! The restaurant and bar terrace are the perfect place to unwind at the end of a fun-filled day.
The stylish lodges sleep up to 10 and some have a hot tub.
Less than a 10-minute drive from the turquoise waters of the Cornish coast lies Landal Whalesborough, a peaceful resort surrounded by beautiful countryside. Facilities on-site include an indoor and outdoor pool, gym and beauty treatments, as well as play areas.
Unique to this park is the small farm where children can meet goats, chickens, pigs and alpacas. There are also organised animal feeding sessions which children can take part in.
The cosy lakeside restaurant serves local produce and enjoys great views.
Accommodation here is a collection of apartments and cottages. The cottages sleep up to 10 and some have a hot tub.
LANDAL WHALESBOROUGH RESORT
Landal Rockingham Forest is a new and small-scale park in the heart of the Northamptonshire countryside and surrounded by ancient woodland. It is just 20 minutes from Peterborough and 15 minutes from the old market town of Stamford which also has an indoor pool with waterslide.
Facilities include a play area, archery, a football pitch and giant chess. Guests can enjoy the bistro restaurant or get stuck in at the communal barbecue area.
The spacious lodges and cottages sleep up to 8 and most have an outdoor hot tub.
LANDAL ROCKINGHAM FOREST
Located just 10 minutes from Landal Ullswater, Landal Whitbarrow has an impressive range of facilities which include an indoor pool and wellness centre, gym, indoor playroom, outdoor play area, mini golf, a cinema room and even a play station room.
Activities such as archery, tipi building and campfires will keep children entertained during their holiday. Grown-ups can enjoy the live music and a relaxing meal in the on-site restaurant.

There are also some children’s themed lodges with child-sized furniture, toys and games.
LANDAL WHITBARROW
Landal Marwell Resort is in beautiful area, in the South Downs National Park and close to the New Forest. Within about a 30-minute drive you can visit Paulton’s Park and Peppa Pig World, Southampton and Portsmouth. And Marwell Zoo is just a 5-minute drive away.
This is a great park for all ages with an indoor play (includes a separate area for children under 18 months), an outdoor adventure play area, treetop high ropes, archery and quad bikes. There are 2 restaurants with a wide range of dining options including a pizza restaurant with stone-baked pizzas, perfect after a busy day enjoying the activities.
Lodges sleep up to 10 and all have a hot tub and their own barbecue for some al fresco dining!
