Review – Landal Ooghduyne; Our First Landal Holiday in Holland!

The Pitstop family left us this review of their May holiday at Landal Ooghduyne, a coastal park just an hour north of Amsterdam and very close to the world heritage Wadden islands. They told us:

“We loved our first Landal holiday in Holland! The ferry crossing from Hull to Rotterdam was smooth, and driving our car on the ‘wrong’ side of the road wasn’t as scary as I’d feared it would be.

Our first stop was a detour to Kinderdijk, where we enjoyed munching on fresh stroopwaffels and a boat tour around the windmills. It was a great recommendation made by the Little Clogs team, so thank you! It was great to wander about and stretch our legs before we jumped back in the car for the 2 hour drive north to Ooghduyne.

We chose this park as we wanted to go somewhere close to the coast, that was a small-ish park, but that would cater for our 3 ‘tweens’. Ooghduyne ticked all our boxes. Our house was exactly as shown in the photos, and had plenty of space for us all. It was one of the older style properties on the site, but we enjoyed the mature and big garden to play the games we had brought with us. Having a dishwasher and a washing machine was brilliant, and there were 3 small supermarkets about 5 minutes drive away (including a Lidl).

The biggest hit by far was the pool and the waterslide – which we all enjoyed every day! It was immaculately clean and laid back, with separate sessions for toddlers and more serious swimmers. The beaches in the area were also great and we loved playing in the dunes … although even on a sunny day the sea was too cold and the waves too big for swimming! At the closest beach there was a lovely café with amazing views, and it was a nice 20 min stroll (or 5 min drive if you’re feeling lazy)!

We also enjoyed bowling, using some of the bikes and the outdoor and indoor play areas. Despite being the only English family on the site the children made friends, and the staff were all keen to practice their English on us!! We loved the calm family atmosphere and are already avidly looking on the Little Clogs website for our next adventure.”
