Review: Hof van Saksen, A Beautiful Place!

The Edwards family left us this review of their recent holiday to Hof van Saksen. It was their first time visiting the Netherlands, with their 2 girls, and they did it car free, getting the train from Amsterdam airport. This is what they said:

“Having never visited the Netherlands before we didn’t know where to start and this was where Laura @littleclogs expertise came in! She advised us on the different resorts we could visit, all the types of accommodation and the best ways to get there.

We flew EasyJet Manchester to Amsterdam then got the train to Assen to stay at Hof Van Saksen for a week at the end of August. We have had the best time! The thatched farmhouses were really clean and comfortable, each with a patio and loads of green space around. There were several small parks dotted about the site and it was only a short walk to the main lake area with a beach, huge playground and air trampoline (and a cafe/ bar for the adults). The whole resort is beautifully maintained with gorgeous gardens and sculptures throughout.

Most of the activities at Hof van Saksen are included in the price and there is a really handy app to book onto them, there was so much to do we didn’t get chance to do everything! The girls (7 and 9) loved canoeing / paddleboarding, go karting, indoor trampolining, clip and climb (well worth the €5 charge) as well as the giant indoor play centre. Although the pools, water slides and outdoor rapids were their favourite! Our little one is already planning to go again when she will be 8 so she will be able to go on the biggest slide!

We hired bikes for a few days and explored the surrounding areas, which were beautiful, again under the fantastic guidance of Laura! The bike lanes outside the resort are excellent, signposted well and being mainly separated from the roads felt very safe for us to use as a family.

All the Hof van Saksen staff and all the Dutch people we met were so helpful and friendly, @littleclogs were so approachable and knowledgeable it has been a pleasure to book through them to visit such a wonderful part of the world, we will definitely be back.
