Why are holiday parks perfect for baby and toddler families?

Staying on a holiday park is just ideal if you have small children. Here are the some of the reasons we think they are so great:

  1. They are located in the middle of nature or on the coast with lots of fresh air and space to run around. You are not cooped up in a hotel room or block and you often have a lot of space between you and your neighbour. You can make the most of the fresh air and relaxed surroundings but then in Holland or Belgium the main towns and cities really are only a stone’s throw away. You could hire family bikes and explore some of the fantastic cycling networks in these countries.
  2. Facilities include toddler friendly pools and play areas as well as children’s entertainment for all ages. Our selected holiday parks have heated indoor pools with little slides and jets or water to splash about in. They also have large indoor play areas with separate areas for toddlers and well equipped outdoor playgrounds which tend to be conveniently located next to a bar or restaurant terrace area!
  3. Holiday parks have well stocked shops with all baby essentials. You are usually a short drive from a big supermarket but the on park shops are usually well stocked with nappies, wipes, formula, dummies, toys and baby food.
  4. Luxurious accommodation which comes with cots and high chairs and tends to be all on one level or on two levels with stair gates provided. The great thing about holiday park accommodation is you are all together but not on top of each other. You don’t all have to try and go to bed at the same time in the same room. Bungalows and lodges come with 2, 3 or 4 rooms and sometimes more so everyone can have their own space. Beeksebergen and most of the Landal parks have also created children’s themed accommodations which come with added extras such as toys and games, children’s cutlery and crockery and children’s tables and chairs.
  5. Detached accommodation with a direct link to the outdoors. You don’t have to walk through corridors and down stairs to get from your accommodation outside. Just open the door and you’re out! Large windows allow you to connect with nature and the little ones can run around right next to you.
  6. No schedule or hotel meal times to abide by. Be where you want when you want! Holiday parks have an easy going atmosphere. They have a selection of restaurants and snack bars as well as take-away options but also have well stocked shops so you can cook at home as often as you wish. So you’re in charge of your schedule here.
  7. BBQs and eating al fresco. What we love about these holidays is the ability to just open the doors and enjoy a meal on the outdoor terrace, or a BBQ as the sun goes down.
  8. Affordable! The price is always per accommodation and always includes access to the park facilities (on some larger parks additional activities are available as a payable extra).  A week in June at the Rabbit Hill holiday park in the Dutch Hoge Veluwe national park costs just  €359 for a 2 bedroom bungalow (€51 per family per day).  Even in July and August prices beat many other toddler holiday options: a week at Beeksebergen close to Efteling theme park in Holland costs from €1337 for a week for a family of 6 in one of their animal themed jungalows. This also includes unlimited access to the Beeksebergen Safari Park.
