Review: Our 4th Little Clogs Holiday – Hof van Saksen and Landal Marina Resort Well

The Deacon family are just back from their 4th Little Clogs holiday! This time visiting Hof van Saksen and Landal Marina Resort Well. Thanks so much to them for sending us this review and for being such loyal customers!

“We’ve just returned home from Holland after our 4th Little Clogs summer holiday and yet again we’ve had an amazing time! We cannot recommend the ladies and their invaluable advice enough and will continue to sing their praises as loyal fans. We love a bit of novelty, and every summer try 2 new parks and Hof van Saksen and Landal Marina Resort Well continue to raise the bar high.

Our first park was Landal Marina Resort Well and what a gem this park was to discover! On the way over we had a quick stop off in De Haan to check out the wonderful (albeit busy!) beach and soak up the Belgium experience whilst the sun was shining. This area is beautiful and well worth a stop to break up a journey and stretch legs!

Having stayed at the wonderful De Twee Bruggen previously, Landal Marina Resort Well had very similar vibes and felt very much a top end Landal resort! The accommodation was immaculate, and this site has SO much to offer. Alongside the beautiful Marina and pristine feel of the buildings there are lots of lovely play parks and obstacle courses amongst the lakes / beach areas, super friendly reps that speak wonderful English with the children and a splash park that never felt busy in peak August. The park was loved by all 3 of our children (6,8,11) and alongside sun loungers and a fab infinity pool we loved exploring the park. Our son had a great time on the super cheap go karts and we felt happy he was able to venture out by himself as the park was large enough to explore yet small enough for him to remain safe.

This park offers so much more in terms of its beautiful surroundings and immaculately modern accommodation with huge ensuites to each bedroom and a luxury finish – the park upholds the typical ‘ European’ vibe of chilled evenings and friendliness – there were few English speaking guests but we would still highly recommend the resort as we were made to feel very welcome and the reps speak excellent English.

Our girls took part in glitter tattoo sessions and the evening disco and really enjoyed it. Marina is incredibly close to Toverland – a day out we have been wanting to try for years following on from previous visits to Efteling. We had a great day out at Toverland and even in peak August, we jumped on each of the rides multiple times with short queue times and a wonderful day out was had by all! The characters wander round the Toverland park and it all felt very quaint and relaxed with reasonable pricing throughout.

After 3 nights we moved on to Hof Van Saksen – a site we have been eyeing up since our first visit to Holland in 2022! This park did not disappoint. The houses are clean, well equipped and certainly high end but this is reflected in its summer pricing in comparison to other parks. The kids had a ball here at Hof! As parents we are utterly exhausted after a week but to see how much is included for its price there is really nothing in the UK that compares.

Our youngest was a little too short for the amazing selection of slides our older two loved however the park offers lots of other activities for all ages and we went on the lazy river 29292929 times as a compromise. It is worth noting that swim requirements are strict here and any children under 120cm will not be allowed on the slides and will be asked to also swim 4 x 25m length well to not wear a flotation device. This is the first time we’ve ever been tested in the NL.

Even our pre-teen son had a great time in the 12+ club taking part in all sorts of new activities such as dodgeball, scavenger hunts, football tournaments and crazy golf with lots of new friends. Hof had a few more English-speaking families than the usual Dutch parks we usually stay in, and all of the staff speak perfect English to explain each of the activities.

Climbing Hof van Saksen

This week we’ve fully embraced the activities on offer and our children have taken part in so many things including indoor and outdoor climbing sessions, cooking academies, woodworking, trampolining, archaeology and tech academies, football tournaments and lazy river rafting.

We hired bikes on our third day to explore Rolde and cycle through the forest as per our usual Dutch trips however the weather was a little rainy and our youngest couldn’t quite keep up to the usual lengthy rides we like to go on – so it was a quick cafe stop and ride back home- but there seems so much close by to explore even further.

Cycling Hof van Saksen

We’ve had a wonderful time and the whole vibe is very high end. There are some really lovely food areas, a gorgeous beach and lake area, an immense selection of activities for all ages and most importantly a very impressive soft play that happens to serve wonderful food, Starbucks and alcohol for weary Parents! The supermarket is very well stocked and priced fairly and we were impressed with the takeaway pizza service and fresh produce on offer. The snack bar also offered great food, and the restaurants/meal packages always looked busy when we walked past.

We have had a fab holiday and will definitely return to Hof & Marina in the future. Thankfully even with poor weather the second week there was so much to experience at Hof it didn’t matter as the kids got stuck in!

Is Hof realistic as a typical Dutch park experience – we would say no. But is it an amazing park that is well worth its value and different to what the UK has to offer and will keep all ages amused – absolutely. It offers such amazing value for money when you consider all of the activities our children took part in but if you’re looking for a smaller park / a base where you can explore further afield than it may be difficult to leave Hof due to all it has to offer. We’ve had a wonderful time as always and are Little Clogs fans for life now and will return next year for further NL adventures!”
