Review: Hof van Saksen, Our Unforgettable Stay!

The O’Sullivan family left us this review of their holiday at Hof van Saksen. They travelled from Ireland with their 2 children, aged 5 and 2. They were really impressed by both the resort facilities and the accommodation and managed a couple of day trips too. They stayed in a renewed children’s farmhouse. They said:

“We spent the first week of July at Hof van Saksen. We flew from Dublin to Amsterdam and rented a car for the 2 hour drive to Hof van Saksen.

We were so pleasantly surprised when we discovered there was no physical check in; a digital key activates on the app and you tap your phone to unlock your accommodation. We had a three bedroom children’s farmhouse. There was a kids’ bedroom with bunk beds, toys and a magnet wall, our 4 year old was over the moon! We had a beautiful open plan kitchen, sitting and dining area equipped with a little playhouse with kids dining, a large box of Lego and board and wooden train tracks.

The resort was just incredible with huge swimming pool area and slides, trampoline park, soft play areas, craft room, outdoor playgrounds and daily activity programme. While the kids are busy playing, the parents can enjoy a coffee or a drink in the same area. Between the indoor pool and the beach playground and lake activity area there’s something for every age and all kinds of weather. There was lots of rain while we were there but it actually didn’t really bother us as there was so much to do and explore. We ate at the Italian restaurant, buffet and snack bars and enjoyed every meal. Some yummy take away from the onsite supermarket too.

We did a day trip to Wildlands and had such a fun, memorable day. It’s one of the best zoos we’ve ever been to. Definitely a must do trip!! We drove to a nearby pancake house. It was very authentic, no English menus and we were the only English speaking family in the restaurant but we made it work and enjoyed delicious pancakes.

Our only word of warning is if renting a car, take caution of speed limits! There are discrete cameras everywhere and very little tolerance; one we received was for 4km over the limit!!
