The Kehoe family have sent us this review of their recent stay in a Kids Jungalow at Beekse Bergen Lake Resort. They wanted accommodation with an enclosed outdoor area, a holiday park with lots to keep the children occupied and plenty of space to play. They told us they had a wonderful time and none of them wanted to leave. They said:
“I came across Little Clogs Holidays & was intrigued so I gave the page a follow. There were so many options and detailed reviews of different places that really grabbed my attention & interest. Beekse Bergen looked right up our alley so I contacted Little Clogs to find out some more info. Laura replied & she couldn’t have been more helpful.
Three of my kids are autistic so I had some questions & Laura was able to provide me with a review from a mother who also has children with similar needs. I couldn’t have been more sure we had picked the right place & Little Clogs also provided us with a discount code for transfer to & from the resort from the airport.
Beekse Bergen itself was definitely our favourite family holiday to date. The flight is short as is the journey from Eindhoven to the resort. We chose to stay on the Lake Resort in a kids Jungalow which was right on the lake’s edge as this accommodation has rope fencing around the patio so we felt reassured our escape artist toddler would be safe. When we went the weather was beautiful & we spent a lot of time admiring the sunsets, wildlife & people canoeing or paddling across the water whilst enjoying a meal on our patio. It really had the most perfect view.
We rented bikes for three days, one of which had a carriage in the front that came in handy for our two young boys. This made getting to and from the Safari Park quite easy. We also got the Ostrich Express (land train) a few times & the Chimpanship (boat) to Speelland on days we didn’t have the bikes. Be aware of when their last journey is as if you have kids with tired legs the walk back can be quite long. There was also a cart in the accommodation that you could wheel kids or groceries etc. in.
The amenities are plentiful & don’t have that touristy feel of resorts that you often get. Speelland has a huge playground on the beach, waterslides, little rides, swings, trampolines, restaurants, bouncy castle, etc. You would easily spend a few hours over a couple of days. Especially with younger kids.
We did the Game drive Safari also. We had to do it separately as our 2.5 year old was too young but it is a bumpy ride so I can see why. The guide also spoke in English when he knew we were from Ireland. It was fantastic. Really enjoyed it & the kids got great fun out of the giraffes licking people’s cars. The Safari Park is large but has so much to offer. Definitely worth spending time there. Etsi Pool on the lakeside is fabulous & has a great kids area which we were very impressed with. There is also a water slide for older kids & adults & a lazy river. We went everyday.
The beach on the Lake Resort is beautiful. You can sit there & have a drink while watching the kids right in front of you as there is a small playground on the beach. They also have some kids entertainment which finished up early each night. There are playgrounds dotted all around the place & the option to canoe etc. There is also an indoor playground which is handy on wet days. There is a kids club also, which mine didn’t go to but that is because we were so busy. The first night we went to Moto Restaurant on the Safari side & saw the people playing bowling getting served their drinks by a robot which was good fun! The accommodation was great.
As I mentioned, the view was spectacular. Myself & my husband had a double bed (two single beds pushed together) with big patio doors looking right onto the lake. The two other bedrooms had bunk beds & all the equipment needed for a baby such as a cot, highchair, baby bath etc. We had a shower in our bath but not all the jungalows have baths so if this is important take note if you decide to pay a little bit extra to choose your lodge. The kitchen had a fridge (no freezer), a hob, dishwasher & a microwave that I think may have had some other functions but we didn’t use it. We bought the towel package & were glad we did as with the sand on the beaches the showers were plentiful. You get a welcome package which has a few dishwasher tablets, a sponge & something else which I can’t remember!!! The kids loved having the house & different areas to be able to have ‘quiet time’ when they needed it & we were very close to Ganvie Village so if we needed to leave to go back to accommodation at any point it was very handy.
There are washing machines close to the supermarket on the Lake Resort side which we used towards the end of our week long stay but you have to bring your own detergent. When the cycle was finished we threw them on the horse on our patio to dry. There is a restaurant & a snack counter on the Lake Resort side & a Spar supermarket. The supermarket can be quite pricey, we had plans to cycle to nearby town but we were happy in our own bubble at Beekse Bergen. We also had plans to go to Efteling but the kids were so happy we didn’t move from the resort except to go for a cycle one of the days.
We will definitely return to Beekse Bergen one day & with so many different accommodation types to choose from the options are plentiful. Thanks to Little Clogs for helping us have a brilliant, relaxed & fun family holiday.”
