The Ward family spent an Easter break at the new eco resort Landal Forest Resort Your Nature near Tournai in the Belgian Ardennes. It sounds like they had a really relaxing time, enjoying the peace and quiet of the beautiful woodlands and some of the onsite activities. They told us.
“I wanted to drop you an email to let you know we (me, husband, 5 year old son) got back on Friday from a week at Landal Your Nature near Tournai, Belgium, after my husband saw a Little Clogs post (Instagram?) and we booked it via your link. We didn’t look it into it much more than that to be honest as we had enjoyed a week at Beekse Bergen last summer, again arrived at via Little Clogs, so just went with the recommendation.
We had a lovely relaxing time. We spent most of our time at the park apart from one afternoon in Tournai. I almost feel guilty we didn’t go out and about and do more stuff!
We stayed in a 4-person cottage and the accommodation was really lovely. Just as nice as it looks in the photos. Really nicely fitted out, well arranged, lovely bathrooms and comfy beds. It was a pleasure to hang out there. It was nestled in the woodland which we could see change over the course of the week with bluebells starting to flower and the trees coming into leaf. And the birdsong was amazing!
The only downside is that they’re a bit stingy with the kitchen provisions so there’s 4 knifes, 4 spoons, 4 glasses, 4 tiny coffee cups etc….you get the picture! But nothing you can’t work round. We ate in some evenings so it’s kitted out well enough to make meals.
As it’s a car-free park we treated ourselves beforehand to one of these wheeled trolleys which then packs up. This was a lifesaver transporting all our gear, meaning we didn’t have to wait for the shuttlebus and could do things under our own steam.
The park seemed very quiet, I think perhaps only part of Belgium were on holidays, but that added to the tranquility. Our son loved the mini golf so played that several times. We went swimming a couple of times and took our own set of boules so played that too. His favourite thing was probably table football and pool though! Being quiet it pretty much meant he got free reign of these when he wanted while we enjoyed a Belgian beer. I think if you had very active kids who wanted to try lots of different things there might not be enough for them but for our child he loved the golf, swimming and games and he certainly didn’t want to come home. “
